How to order

Three steps to your table

The Gathering House is a one-woman kitchen, so every order is booked ahead. Dates fill up around holidays and graduation season.

  1. Text Toyah

Text 703-479-4965 with your date, what you're celebrating, how many people, and any flavors or ideas you have in mind.

  2. Get your quote

Toyah confirms she's available, works out the details with you, and sends a price. A deposit holds your date.

  3. Pick it up

Your order is baked fresh for the day you need it, boxed, and ready at your pickup time. Local delivery may be available.

Questions before you order

Don't see your question here? Text Toyah at 703-479-4965.

How far ahead should I order?

Two weeks for celebration cakes, five days for cookies and pastries, and three days for breads. Tiered and wedding cakes need more time, so reach out as soon as you have a date. Last-minute requests are fine to ask about. If the calendar has room, Toyah will say yes.

How do payment and deposits work?

Once Toyah confirms your order and sends a quote, a deposit holds your date. The balance is due before pickup. She'll share the payment options in your quote.

What if I need to change or cancel?

Text as early as you can. Changes to flavors and design are easiest a week or more before your date. Because ingredients are bought and your spot is held for you, deposits may not be refundable close to the date.

Do you handle allergies?

Everything is made in a home kitchen that also uses wheat, eggs, milk, soy, peanuts, and tree nuts. Toyah can leave an ingredient out of your order, but she can't promise it's free of traces. If an allergy is severe, please text before ordering.

How should I store my cake?

Keep it boxed, covered, and at cool room temperature, away from sun and heat. Serve within two days for the best texture. Cookies and pound cakes keep well for several days in an airtight container.

Do you deliver?

Most orders are picked up at a scheduled time. Local delivery may be available for an added fee depending on distance and order size. Ask when you text.

Can I see past work or ask for a custom design?

Yes. Send photos of designs you love along with your colors and theme, and Toyah will tell you what she can make for your budget and date.

Meet the baker

Hi, I'm Toyah.

I'm the founder of The Gathering House, and I'm also the baker, the decorator, the dishwasher, and the one who answers your messages.

I named this bakery for the moments I love most: people pulling up chairs, passing plates, and staying a little longer than they planned. A good cake or a warm pan of rolls has a way of bringing everyone to the table.

Because I bake every order myself, I take a limited number each week. That means your order gets my full attention from the first mix to the last swirl of frosting.

— Toyah Goines, founder
